Airport capacity planning

Several studies were carried out at UK and overseas airports to assess capacity accurately and allocate slots impartially. This involves an evaluator, the airport operator, air traffic control, airlines and an independent coordinator. It takes account of runway capacity and runway occupancy which depend on the mix of aircraft types. Barry Stoker has provided extensive advice on the methodology used to address these issues at a number of UK and overseas airports using a discrete event simulation model.
